A year ago today we moved. Moving isn’t really that big of deal to a lot of people, but it was to me. The list of why is too long to recount, but mostly its the people I miss. I said yes because I love Elton more. He has put his own desires on hold countless times for me. This was my chance to do the same…and He was following God. Walking in Obedience. I was at the kitchen sink when he asked, “Will you move to Texas?” I said, “Yes”. And a month later, we did.
Yes should be like the candy in a PEZ dispenser. When one is used, another pops up. It is my desire to have a heart with ten-thousand yeses. Ready for His questions at a moments notice.
“But I have to stop and think about it!” That seems reasonable, but Brother Lawrence explained that in order to love and delight ourselves in God, we need to “recognize a significant difference between the acts of our understanding and the acts of our will. The first are of comparatively little value, the others, all”. What does the process of our answer communicate to God?
Since we moved, we’ve been blessed. Honest to goodness BLESSED. Around every corner. Once or twice a week something so significant will happen that one of us has to exclaim “THIS was worth the whole move to Texas.” All things we couldn’t have anticipated, couldn’t have known or seen or understood. But they all came out in the YES.
A year ago we moved. Moving isn’t really that big of deal to a lot of people, but it was to me. But love is a bigger deal. I guess you could say I’m learning this: For the love of God, just say Yes!
(Thank you, Elty, Amber, D.j. , Avery, Sarah, and Caleb McMillan for your hearts to obey and say YES to God with us. You are a strength and a joy to us)
